About the Magazine

We publish stories that take their time.

Luminary Wire was founded on a simple premise: that the most important stories of our moment cannot be told in 600 words, and that the readers who want them have not gone away — they have only stopped being served.

We publish long-form journalism, essays, dispatches, and profiles. Our writers spend weeks, sometimes months, on a single piece. Our editors believe a sentence is worth reading three times before it is printed once.

We are independent. We are reader-supported. We do not chase the day's outrage, and we do not apologize for the time it takes to do this work properly.
